“And Saul had a concubine, whose name [was] Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah. So [Ishbosheth] said to Abner, ‘Why hast thou gone in unto my father’s concubine?’” (2 Sam. 3:7).

The words “was” and “Ishbosheth” are italicized in the translation because they are not in the Hebrew text. They were added to complete the sense of the passage.

“Uzzah put forth [his hand] to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen shook it” (2 Sam. 6:6).

“His hand” must be supplied to complete the thought.

“He will not always chide: [with us], nor will He keep [His anger] forever” (Ps. 103:9).

“For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [His] resurrection” (Rom. 6:5).

Also see 1 Chronicles 16:7; Psalm 137:5; Ezekiel 47:13;Hebrews 7:8.
